Phnom Penh Crown take on Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng in the Hun Sen Cup semi-final at the National Olympic Stadium this Thursday, with the winners facing either Boeung Ket or Visakha in the final.

Sum Vanna, accompanied by Sok Sovann, joined the pre-match press conference where he offered his thoughts on the semi-final tie, injury concerns, and more.

On the semi-final tie

All the four teams in the Hun Sen Cup semi-final are not small teams. They are big teams that play to win the game.

For us, we don’t have pressure even though Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng are unbeaten in the league competition. In the Hun Sen Cup, it’s all about Cambodia’s local players to face each other, so it’s 50-50. I think the team with higher commitment will win the game. Both sides have already prepared well for the game, but the important thing is ninety minutes on the field. We all at Phnom Penh Crown will do everything it takes to win. We want to reach the final and make our club progress.

On injury concern…

We have six players, who are doubt for the tie. Pov Ponvuthy, Chhuon Chanchav, and three or four other players are not fit to play ninety minutes.

On whether the game will go into the extra time…

We will give 100%. It will be a tough game and a game with much tension. We are a big club, and we will prove it. We will try our best, so I can’t predict the game.

What it means for Phnom Penh Crown to beat unbeaten Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng…

All the four teams are great teams, so beating Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng won’t mean too much. Our main target is to reach the final, and we need to make it happen. We are at the same quality as our opponents as we don’t care much about their league record. We will see on the pitch whether it is Phnom Penh Crown or Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng.

Center-back Sok Sovann, who will captain the team against Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng, said: “It will be a tough game for both sides, so I think the team with better preparation will win the game.

“Of course, we lost to Kirivong Sok Sen Chey last week [in the league], but it’s the past. It’s over, so we don’t want to keep it and talk about it. Now our main target is to win the semi-final clash, and we can’t lose.”
