Three second-half goals from In Sodavid, Sieng Chanthea, and Keo Sokpheng handed Cambodia U22 a vital 3-1 win that sees them reach semi-final of men’s football in the 2019 SEA Games as the Group A runners-up, and Myanmar U22 finish as group winners.
Seut Baraing, who started for the second time for Cambodia U22, has lauded the young KoupreyBlues’ superb performance that he thinks came from a great team spirit. After reaching the semi-final, the 20-year-old is ambitious to reach the final of the tournament and win Gold medal.
The Phnom Penh Crown left-back told ppcfc.com: “It’s a great performance from the team as everyone had a strong commitment and promised to do everything to win the game to reach the next stage. We have a strong team spirit, and the coach has faith in us. Then we give our all.
“They wrote us off, but that gave us a big boost to fight to show everyone that we are capable enough to face any team. We always trust each other that we can do it.
“I’m very, very proud of myself and the whole team, and I’d like to give a big thank to our supporters. It’s an exciting moment, and no words can describe. My tears drop, and I’m so excited because it’s a new history.
“We have our target, and it is to win many games to reach the semi-final. Now we achieve it, so we need to be proud of it. We have sacrificed a lot to make it happen.
“We are now in the semi-final, so our next target is to reach the final and win the Gold medal for our country. We will work hard together to make it happen.”
