Phnom Penh Crown were beaten in their opening Metfone Cambodian League battle as Boeung Ket came from a goal down to snatch all three points in their 3-2 win at the RSN Stadium last Saturday. Paulo Victor, who opened the scoring to give Phnom Penh Crown the lead on his debut match, is optimistic that his side will learn from their defeat that will only make them stronger ahead of the next league matches.

Phnom Penh Crown created several good moments but failed to capitalize on their chances before they were punished by a late equalizer before half-time and the other two goals in the second half. The midfielder, who scored a screamer and was then replaced by Noeu Soksela, who scored Phnom Penh Crown’s second goal on that night, insisted that the home side should have deserved more than a frustrating defeat.

The Brazilian is desperate to win three points for Phnom Penh Crown in their next match against Bati Youth as he hopes to give the club and their supporters joy after last week’s defeat. “I tried to help my teammates to be better, but I did not do a great job as I expected,” Paulo Victor told “I believe that in the next games we will be better and leave with the 3 points that are the most important. “I had the opportunity and the happiness to score a beautiful goal, but the important thing would be the victory, the 3 points. I’m already confident, but I will work to be stronger and better for the next matches and to be able to help my team even more.

“In my opinion, our team deserved the victory, but not always the better team wins. Everyone knows that football can come with a surprise, so you never know what will happen. “I believe that this defeat will only make us stronger for the rest of the season. All of us know our qualities, so we can give many joys to all the fans and our club. It was only the first game, and we know that there are many games ahead. “For me, all the games are tough, and we will not have easy games. My motivation will always be the same as I always want to win. I will prepare myself for it.”
