Phnom Penh Crown midfielder Orn Chanpolin is desperate to beat Visakha in the league encounter at the Smart RSN Stadium this week for the sake of the league championships this season. Leonardo Vitorino’s side were beaten 3-2 by Boeung Ket at home in their Metfone Cambodian League opener before they grabbed a hard-fought win over Bati Youth U18 last week. Orn Chanpolin, who captained the six-time champions in their first away win of the season, has warned his side not to lose points if they want to win the league title this season. “We have to beat them [Visakha] to get the points that can help us in the race for the league title this season,” Orn Chanpolin told ppcfc.com
“I think every game is difficult for us, not only a game with Visakha, but what that matters is three points. Everyone at the club has a strong commitment to win the games as we really want to win the league championships for the club and supporters. To achieve it, we can’t lose points.”
Phnom Penh Crown have missed several opportunities as Va Sokthorn and Brazilian forward Paulo Victor are not at their best in front of the opponents’ goal yet. However, Orn Chanpolin is optimistic by the return of Mao Piseth from injury as he believes that the forward can help to blossom Phnom Penh Crown’s attack. Mao Piseth returned to action with a bang as he opened the scoring with a stunning free-kick to give Phnom Penh Crown an important lead in a tough 2-0 win over Bati Youths U18.
Orn Chanpolin said: “Our big issue is our attack as we have not finished well recently. We create a lot of chances, but our finish is still a big issue. I’m happy that Mao Piseth is back, and hopefully he can improve our attack.”
