Phnom Penh Crown center-back Yue Safy is fit for the Cambodian League clash with Kirivong Sok Sen Chey this Sunday after returning to the club from the international duty with Cambodia in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers second round.
Cambodia played two Group C matches at home in the campaign, but the Red Singha center-back remained unused sub during Cambodia’s 1-1 draw with Hong Kong and 1-0 defeat to Bahrain.
Despite not getting any minute to play for his national team, the 18-year-old, who will turn 19 in the next few months, regarded his training camp with Cambodia as a good experience for his football career.
Phnom Penh Crown defeated Kirivong Sok Sen Chey 2-1 at home in their first league encounter after skipper Orn Chanpolin headed the stoppage time winner.
Yue Safy, however, warned his side not to underestimate Ekapob Potisai’s side for this Sunday’s visit to the Takeo-based club, who sit in the ninth place in the Cambodian League table.
Yue Safy told ppcfc.com: “After the training camp with Cambodia National Team, I learn that I can improve more especially related to the understanding of football more deeply as Honda is a world-class player, so he can understand football greatly.
“Even though I didn’t feature for the national team, I have always prepared myself for the game including fitness and mentality.
“We have no problems playing away from home. I mean the important thing is to prepare our team well. Kirivong Sok Sen Chey are not an easy team to beat.
“We need to be well-prepared for this upcoming game. We can’t underestimate the opponents, definitely we can’t.
“I think I’m fit for the game.”
