Andres Nieto is looking forward to the return of the Metfone Cambodian League, and he is confident that the suspension of the league cannot affect Phnom Penh Crown’s momentum.
The Red Singha had an impressive start to the new season as they secured four wins and a draw from their opening five matches to occupy the top spot in the Metfone Cambodian League table.
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the Football Federation of Cambodia (FFC) decided to suspend the Metfone Cambodian League and other football events in the Kingdom with no definite return date.
Team training is not allowed, but Andres Nieto believes that his teammates are working hard during their individual trainings and are ready for the return of football.
The 24-year-old Colombian told ppcfc.com: “Now I’m fine. I have never stopped training, so my condition remains the same or even better. I am not worried as I believe my team is doing excellent and with a winning mentality.
“I am ready and prepared, so if it [Metfone Cambodian League] resumed tomorrow, I would have no problem, and I am sure that my teammates do not have any issues, either.
“We all want the league to resume, but we must keep in mind that our health is at risk. The decision [suspending the league] is made by the Ministry of Health, so they are the ones who really know if it can be resumed
“We don’t have training sessions together for several weeks, but my teammates are professional. They are training individually at their home. We know what we want, and of course it is time to adjust a few tactical and physical aspects.”
