Va Sokthorn reveals Phnom Penh Crown’s aim against Ministry of National Defense in the second leg of the Hun Sen Cup quarter final that will be played at the Smart RSN Stadium this Wednesday.
Phnom Penh Crown went down 1-0 to Ministry of National Defense in the first leg at the Army Stadium, so the Red Singha midfielder aims to beat Tep Longrachna’s side without conceding goal in tomorrow’s decisive match.
Phnom Penh Crown’s Cambodian League title hope is over as they are seventeen points behind league leaders Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng with five matches to go, though the French-Khmer born insists that the team still have motivation to win all the remaining matches.
Va Sokthorn told ppcfc.com: “Yes sure, now we put a lot of hope in the Hun Sen Cup. That does not mean we just focus on it. Because we are Phnom Penh Crown, we must prepare to win all the games.
“We must present ourselves on the field with belief that we can beat Ministry of National Defense by more than one goal, and we must qualify for the semifinal. Our motivation will give us the strength to fulfill our duty.
“I think we have to be compact offensively as well as defensively. We will not bet everything on the attack. The goal is to score without conceding a goal. We know we must be patient and not precipitate.
“We still have two days left before the match, and we are working on the mistakes we made during the first leg. We are aware of the expectations of the club and the impact this game may have for the rest of the season, so we are ready.”
