Phnom Penh Crown went down 1-0 against Chiang Rai United in the last eight of 2020 Leo Pre-season Cup in Thailand last night.
Chaiyawat unleashed a powerful long range strike into the top corner during the second half to send the Champions of Thailand into the next round of the 2020 Leo Pre-season Cup.
After failing to punch Chaiyawat’s shot from distance, Um Vichet apologized his teammates and fans as he mis-anticipated the ball.
Despite a narrow defeat, the Red Singha goalkeeper is pleased with his team performance, but insisted that his side need to improve the team understanding ahead of the Metfone Cambodian League.
Um Vichet told ppcfc.com: “I’m sorry for my mistake. We created some good chances, but failed to capitalize on those chances.
“Our form is very good, and if we can keep this form, I think it’s good for us to challenge for our league title. We have a good team preparation with the involvement of our staff and coaches, but players’ injury is our main issue – it can affect our performance too.
“I’m happy with our performance last night. If we maintain this performance, I think we can bring out a good outcome this season.
“At the same time, we need to boost our team understanding, and I think the coach knows how to fix this issue.”
