Phnom Penh Crown played out a 0-0 draw with Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng at the Smart RSN Stadium on Sunday afternoon to remain unbeaten in the Metfone Cambodian League and maintain their top spot in the table.
After a draw with the defending champions, Sum Vanna delivered a post-match verdict as he underlined his team tactic and how he planned to stop the Svay Rieng side.
Sum Vanna told ppcfc.com: “We know it would be a tough game as both teams came up with the same level of performance, but what that could make a difference is the team’s fighting spirit. That the players know the team tactic and the actual situation in the game should be the key.
“We made some mistakes, and the opponents took the advantages to play quick counter attack for a couple of times during the first half. We know they would put pressure on us as they played attacking football against us in the first twenty minutes, and then they allowed us to play and waited for our mistakes. It’s also our game plan that we applied defensive approach in the first fifteen and twenty minutes.
“The boys did about 70 per cent of what I instructed them, but we need to improve our finish. We improved the situation in the second half as we increased our domination of the game, but actually in the first half we allowed them to play. With the hot weather, the players looked tired in the second half. If we had scored a goal either in the first or second half, we would have won the game.”
