A superb win over Asia Euro United helps Phnom Penh Crown maintain their top spot in the Metfone Cambodian League as they secure nine points from their opening three matches.
The Red Singha put six goals past Asia Euro United and kept their third consecutive clean sheet thanks to braces from Timothy Okereke and Andres Nieto and two further goals from Yue Safy and Paulo Victor.
With three victories out of three, the Phnom Penh side are having a great start to the season, and Sum Vanna believes his side can even get better.
They will face defending champions Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng next week, and Sum Vann reckons this important match as an opportunity for Phnom Penh Crown to prove themselves as the title contender.
Sum Vanna said: “We are trying to fix the issues from game to game, and we have improved since the first game. We looked better in the second game in the league, and we had some small problems in the first half of the third game. In the second half, we changed the tactic, and it worked.
“Beating the teams with similar capacity as us or even below us will be a big boost for us ahead of the tie with Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng. They have also performed well in both home and away games.
“If we get good result against Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng, I think it helps us challenge for the league title. We need to try our best to win. Asia Euro United are not a weak team. They are a strong team, too, and we never write them off.
“We always look forward and try to make our team stronger. Of course, it’s a good motivation for the team to win the previous games ahead of big games.”
