Phnom Penh Crown secured back-to-back win over Ministry of National Defense as they thrashed Tep Longrachna’s side 4-1 at the Army Stadium.
The clash was held last Sunday, but due to heavy rain it was postponed after a quarter on the clock and was rescheduled to play on Monday afternoon.
The Red Singha recovered from the Hun Sen Cup semi-final defeat to Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng as they produced a thrilling performance to put four goals past the home side.
Paulo Victor put Phnom Penh Crown in front after thirty-six minutes before Dzarma Bata extended their lead to 2-0 just seven minutes into the second half.
Bisan George pulled one back for the home side to reduce the deficit, but Mustafa Zazai made it 3-1 for Phnom Penh Crown, and then Dzarma Bata bagged his second goal to secure the visitors all the points.
A huge three points from Ministry of National Defense is very essential for Phnom Penh Crown as they target top-4 finish, and Sum Vanna aims to take maximum points from Phnom Penh Crown’s three remaining matches.
The Red Singha caretaker manager told ppcfc.com: “We have prepared the team since our Hun Sun Cup semi-final defeat. We will take each game seriously and do our best in the final three league games. The management team, coaches, and players will work hard together for the remaining games.
“A win over Ministry of National Defense doesn’t make us feel better from the Hun Sen Cup semi-final defeat. It’s the history, and we don’t want it repeated. Then we must work harder to improve.
“The fans still feel hurtful from the defeat, and they always talk to me about the penalty shootouts and this and that whenever we meet outside. They also lauded our team performance and spirit. Our preparation is not completely 100 per cent good yet, so we must work to fulfill it.
“Our target was actually to challenge for the title, but we can’t. Then we turn to Top-4 finish. We will try to improve next season, so we will begin with recruiting players and coaching staff. We will try to make it better.”
