Phnom Penh Crown will play their opening Metfone Cambodian League match against Electricite Du Cambodge on February 15, and Sum Vanna is confident that his side are ready for the upcoming match.
The Red Singha were beaten 2-1 by Kedah FA in the Smart RSN Stadium Cup before going down 1-0 against Chiang Rai United in the Leo Pre-season Cup in Thailand.
Sum Vanna is hopeful to use the experience his side got from the international friendly matches to improve the team performance ahead of the 2020 Metfone Cambodian League that will come in two weeks.
Sum Vanna told ppcfc.com: “We are ready with two weeks left [ahead of the Metfone Cambodian League]. We had several friendly matches with local and overseas teams including Kedah FA and Chiang Rai United. We expected to get good results against them, but Paulo Victor and Mao Piseth got injured – that could affect our attack.
“Those matches made our players learn to be more flexible on and off the pitch, and I really appreciate their hard work. We have adapted to our playing style, and sure we need to work more on that. We can see the improvement of our team during the international friendly matches against Kedah FA and Chiang Rai United. We can also make assessment on our team performance ahead of the new season.
“We have a good preparation, and we have learned from our international friendly matches. The players displayed a good performance, and what we need to improve more is our technical team to help our players and to make them more confident in themselves and the whole team.”
