Phnom Penh Crown were held to a 2-2 draw by Naga World in the Cambodian League at home last night, with the defending champions coming from behind twice to secure a point at the Smart RSN Stadium.
Mustafa Zazai scored from the rebound to give Phnom Penh Crown the lead in the twenty-third minute of the play after Shane Booysen’s early strike was denied by Naga World goalkeeper Sou Yaty.
Just four minutes into the second half, Esoh Omogba equalized for the defending champions before the Red Singha re-took their lead thanks to Shane Booysen’s fantastic low effort that gave Sou Yaty no chance to save. Kouch Dani, however, drew Meas Channa’s side level for the second time to earn a point for the visitors.
Sum Vanna explained last night’s draw as a deserved draw, with both sides displaying an attractive football. The Red Singha caretaker manager also expressed his concerns related to his side’s team defense and concentration issue.
Sum Vanna told ppcfc.com: “We played against a big team and the team with much experience. They have a good preparation, and they have a lot of experienced players. They played very well, and so did we. It’s a 50-50 game, so it’s a deserved draw.
“There’s work to do for our defense. Week by week, we are training hard to improve our defense, our back 4.
“We are desperate to improve our goalkeeper. We have shown the videos of how we conceded goals from the previous games especially on the goalkeeper’s position.
“We deployed two defensive midfielders to support our defense when we lost possession.”
