Shane Booysen points out the big influence of football on Cambodian children’s life after he took part in a charity match at the Smart RSN Stadium yesterday.

Phnom Penh Crown ran out 5-3 winners against Ministry of National Defense in the match that aimed to raise fund for the children who live in the rural area in Kampong Chnang Province.

Phnom Penh Crown are open to receive donations from the supporters including study materials, clothes, and shoes till October 11, and Shane Booysen has called on the supporters to do their bit for Cambodian children.

Shane Booysen told “Personally, it’s a big honor, and I feel very proud to be able to be a part of the club to do the charity. Young Cambodian children do have the future, and sometimes everything that is happening is not easy.

“With this charity match, we can make the children’s life much easier as we can find fund for the future generation. Poverty is everywhere in the world, and I also come from a poverty struggle country.

“We are professional players, and there are many young children who look up to us. We play football to influence them and encourage them to play football. We not only play football, but we also educate them. To me, that’s a big thing that I am really proud of.

“I think football has a big influence in people’s life. People at the young age who take football as their career can only be better. You keep your fitness, and you try to be disciplined.

“Everybody wants to be famous, so by playing football I think you can achieve your goal. You can also play for the national team, which makes your family proud. You can change your old timeline. If young boys and girls want to play football, they should do it, but they should also study because education is also important.

“I would advise everybody to donate. It doesn’t matter how much you donate. Sometimes you have foods to eat, but some children don’t have foods to eat. I hope everybody including the fans, the boss, and the staff can do their bit to try to keep everybody happy.

“I think the fans can do it to provide the young children materials and safety to show their love as it could mean a lot to the kids. I hope the fans will keep on supporting even with 1 dollar for the future of Cambodia.

“I think we take the match serious because every week we work on things to achieve objectives at the end of the week after we play the match. For me, this game is a good experience, but all the benefits will go to the kids.

“We still have three more matches to play in the league. We need to be stronger and ready for the upcoming games. We didn’t start well, but we want to finish strong. This game is important because all the games we take it serious. We want all of our fans to come and to give their support to us.”
