Phnom Penh Crown finished sixth in the 2019 Cambodian League, and Orn Chanpolin stated that the Red Singha should have done better this past season.
The midfielder believed early departure of several players made it difficult for Phnom Penh Crown to build a strong squad.
However, the arrival of Bata, Zazai, and Shane Booysen in the second round of the season improved Phnom Penh Crown’s attack, but it appeared to be a bit late for them to challenge for the league title.
Orn Chanpolin was named Phnom Penh Crown captain, with the midfielder receiving much respect and advice from experienced players the like of former captain Ouk Sothy.
Orn Chanpolin told ppcfc.com: “I could say that we didn’t do well this season. We changed coach and players during the half season, so it made us difficult to catch up a new system, and we look like a new team again.
“This year is not a season for us. In the pre-season, we had organized everything, but it didn’t go through as we wanted.
“As a young captain, I have to respond and lead the team to be the best, but it is not a big problem because the players who in the field have their responsibility, so I can say that everyone is the captain.
“I got much advice from the coach, manager, and players especially Sothy, Sokthorn, Bata, Zazai, and Shane, who have much experience in the field.”
