Lim Pisoth is overjoyed after Cambodia U19 secure a place in the final round of the 2020 AFC U19 Championship as one of the best second-placed teams.
Group G host Cambodia U19 didn’t have a good start to the AFC U19 Championship qualifiers after they were beaten 5-4 by Malaysia U19 in their group opener.
However, they turned out to bag maximum nine points from their last three matches by demolishing Northern Mariana Islands U19 9-0, beating Thailand U19 2-1, and thrashing Brunei U19 3-0 to secure the second place in Group G.
The Phnom Penh Crown youngster scored three goals and provided three assists in his two appearances against Northern Mariana Islands U19 and Brunei U19, while he was an unused substitute against Malaysia U19 and Thailand U19.
Lim Pisoth told ppcfc.com: “I think we deserve it because there are five teams in our group, and we won three matches and lost only one match. Our massive win is against Thailand.
“I’m very happy. We have made history for going through the final round of the AFC U19 Championship. No words can describe how I feel. My tears almost drop down because of my excitement.
“I’m very proud of myself even though I didn’t play every match during our qualification campaign. I will prepare for the final round of the tournament.
“We always want to face big and strong teams in the final round of the tournament as we want to get new experience. Playing strong teams will give us a lot of experience.
“I think we have no problems to face strong teams, and the important thing is that we must play as a team and fight as a team, too. I think we can learn from strong opponents.”
