Lim Pisoth featured for Cambodia U19 in a historic win over Northern Mariana Islands U19 at the National Olympic Stadium as the young KoupreyBlues registered their first win in Group G of the AFC U19 Championship qualifiers.
Cambodia U19 bounced back from a 5-4 loss in their opening Group G match to secure their first three points in the AFC U19 Championship qualifiers after they demolished Northern Mariana Islands U19 9-0 last night, when Lim Pisoth bagged a brace before being replaced by his national team fellow.
Pisoth started well as he had a shot deflected by the opponent center-back Podziewski before Ly Mael slotted home Cambodia U19’s second goal of the match.
Northern Mariana Islands U19 goalkeeper John Bucayo was made to work hard to save Pisoth’s fabulous free kick in the twenty-first minute of the play.
With three minutes before the half-time break, Pisoth produced a well-placed header that was denied by John Bucayo’s outstanding save before Thy Lieng netted home Cambodia U19’s third goal from the rebound.
Pisoth’s hard work paid off in the last minutes of the first half as his low effort hit the back of the net to allow the Phnom Penh Crown youngster to open his account in the AFC U19 Championship qualifiers.
A minute later after his first goal, Pisoth pulled off a fantastic individual skill as he edged past Northern Mariana Islands U19 defender and rounded the goalkeeper before sending the ball into the net to grab his second goal.
Pisoth almost found his hat-trick, but his low strike in a one-on-one situation with the opponent goalkeeper couldn’t find the net. Then he appeared to be unwell, and Cambodia U19 coach Koji Gyotoku decided to replace him just before half-time.
Wut Tola scored in the injury time of the first half to help Cambodia U19 lead 6-0 at the break, and a hat-trick from second-half substitute Sieng Chanthea saw Cambodia U19 snatch all the points from a remarkable 9-0 victory over Northern Mariana Islands U19.
