Keo Sokngon believes that Phnom Penh Crown can benefit from the recent Leo Pre-season Cup and Smart RSN Stadium Cup ahead of the Metfone Cambodian League this season.
The Red Singha faced Kedah FA of Malaysia and the Champions of Thailand, Chiang Rai United, from whom Keo Sokngon believes Phnom Penh Crown can learn.
The former Red Singha striker told ppcfc.com: “If compared to last season, our team preparation this season is better as we faced several big teams the like of Kedah FA and Chiang Rai United in the international friendly matches. It’s a great opportunity for our team to progress, and our local and foreign players can learn from that. Our team understanding as well as discipline are also better.”
Several Phnom Penh Crown players picked up injuries during the pre-season tournaments, but Keo Sokngon is optimistic about the replacements if they are not fit on time for the Metfone Cambodian League opening match.
“We have been hit by some injury concerns as our league will start in the next few weeks, while our important players such as Mao Piseth, Brak Thiva, Kok Boris, and Paulo [Victor] are not fit yet,” added the team manager.
“They are our important players, so we need to discuss with our technical team to find good replacements in case they are not fit on time for our opening league game.
“We have also seen the progress of some players including Yue Safy, Lim Pisoth, Pov Ponvuthy, Sok Sovan, Seut Baraing, and Yeu Muslim, so it’s not a big worry for us to deal with the absence of several key players.
“We will do everything possible to fight for the league championships as we never win it for several years.”
