Phnom Penh Crown snatched all three points in their 2020 Metfone Cambodian League opener as they ran out 3-0 winners against Electricite Du Cambodge at the Smart RSN Stadium last night.
Timothy Okereke bagged a brace on his Phnom Penh Crown debut, and Choun Chanchav scored a further goal to help the Red Singha secure a deserved three points.
Um Vichet, however, stated that it’s just a start for the Phnom Penh side as he regards the six-time champions of Cambodia as a better side during last night’s superb win.
The goalkeeper told ppcfc.com: “I think everyone knows the quality between the two sides as we are easily a better team than Electricite Du Cambodge. We went into the game, knowing that we were going to win three points.
“It’s just the start, and we must look ahead. We have a lot of injury players, so our form doesn’t reach the level we aim for yet. We can assess our team performance when we face big teams.
“We were trying hard to link up with each other, but there’s room for improvement. We will try to improve and learn more. We performed well as a team, which is another positive I see from the game.”
With his first clean sheet on his Phnom Penh Crown debut, the goal stopper is grateful to his teammates for their impressive work in defense.
“It’s not a hard game for us, but thanks to my teammates for their hard work to help us keep the clean sheet,” added Um Vichet.
