Hun Sen Cup semi-final: Phnom Penh Crown beaten by Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng on penalty shootouts

Phnom Penh Crown’s Hun Sen Cup dream ended as they were beaten 5-4 on penalty shootouts by Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng.
Both sides played out a goalless draw after ninety minutes, and with no extra time rule the Hun Sen Cup semi-final winners were decided by penalty shootouts.
Mao Piseth got an early chance when his effort went off target before Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng full-back Nen Sothearoth made a powerful cross that met no one.
Nob Tola headed wide from Sok Samnang’s cross, and few minutes later Va Sokthorn headed wide over the bar.
With thirty-seven minutes on the clock, Yeu Muslim fired a low effort from distance, but it’s only an easy save by goalkeeper Sovanarath.
Hoy Phallin created a late chance with his great ball that met Nob Tola, who couldn’t find the target as his effort went wide over the bar.
With two minutes into the second half, Mao Piseth missed another good chance as he struggled to find target.
Hoy Phallin came close with his low effort that beat goalkeeper Kong Chanvuthy, but couldn’t find the net.
Va Sokthorn got the best chance of the match that should have won Phnom Penh Crown the match, but his effort from the close range was denied by Sovanarath.
The Hun Sen Cup semi-final went into the penalty shootouts, and Seut Baraing and Brak Thiva’s shots were saved my Sovanarath, while Kong Chanvuthy stopped Nen Sothearoth opening penalty.
