Sum Vanna is satisfied with a big win over Bati Youth in their first away match of the 2020 Metfone Cambodian League, but he is not impressed by his side’s performance.

Phnom Penh Crown put seven goals past Bati Youth yesterday afternoon thanks to Timothy Okereke’s hat-trick and goals from Masaaki Ideguchi, Esoh Omogba, Andres Nieto, and second-half substitute Sath Rozak.

A convincing 7-0 victory over Bati Youth sees the Red Singha top the Metfone Cambodian League table with six points from their opening two matches, scoring ten goals without conceding.

Sum Vanna told ppcfc.com: “It’s a good result, but it’s not the kind of performance we want to see. We know before the game that we were going to win this game, but the performance and team tactic are not so good or clear enough among the players.

“I think we need to improve in the next match. The players need to understand more related to the actual situation during the game – what they should do when we are winning or losing.

“We have faced two sides that don’t use foreign players, so we perform well in our defense. We will be more aware of how our defense is when we face Asia Euro United.

“I think we have a good start to the new season, and we have faced the teams that we can get the results from. This can give us big motivation and an opportunity for us to top the league table. We will try to maintain this position.

“We need to improve, and we will try to prepare a good team to face Asia Euro United at home.”
